At the recent VP-1 POPS Vegas Reunion we discussed holding a “Mini POPS Reunion” on Oahu in December of 2026. The Hale Koa allows us to start booking rooms one year in advance, so we need to settle on the dates within the next week or so.
In December of 2022 we held a Mini Reunion the second week of December, which seemed to work well for everyone. Please note that I received a request to look at the first week of December as well…so allow me to present a couple of options.
Thanksgiving in 2026 falls on the 26th of November. If we were to hold the reunion the first week of December, we are looking at Monday, 30 November to Monday, 7 December. If we were to hold the reunion the 2nd week of December, we would be looking at Monday, 7 December to Monday, 14 December.
A couple of items of note…as we all know, December 7th is Pearl Harbor Day. This is probably not a good day to visit the Memorial…but it should not impact any other day. Secondly, the Hawaii Marathon is typically held on the 2nd Sunday in December…which would be the 13th in 2026. Ala Moana BLVD is closed that day which would make getting to the airport challenging…which is why I am proposing Monday to Monday. Of course, everyone is certainly welcome to arrive early…or stay later…(that is one advantage of being retired!)
